Vianova Data Centres are built with security, power, air conditioning and redundancy systems capable of preventing service interruptions and ensuring business continuity even in the event of maintenance, failure or accident.
The facilities in Pisa, Massarosa (Lucca) and Turin are connected by multiple fibre rings and host, in a protected environment, monitored 24 hours a day and always connected, the technological platforms for the supply of all Vianova services. The location of facilities throughout Italy offers Clients additional protection in the context of statutory corporate data security and confidentiality obligations.
All business processes and the data and information management system are ISO 27001, ISO 22301 certified and qualified to QC2 standards by the National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) for use by Public Administrations and companies that provide services to PAs.

Security
- The structures are located in areas of low seismicity and built with anti-flooding and anti-seismic criteria capable of withstanding major floods and earthquakes.
- All systems are constantly monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- The facilities are protected by perimeter alarm and video surveillance systems remotely connected to local security companies.
- Access to the Data Centres is allowed only to authorised and certified personnel via electronic badges and biometric readers.
- The opening of individual cabinets in Pisa is allowed only with reserved electronic badges.
Fire safety
- The Pisa Data Centre adopts an active fire prevention system with oxygen depletion (reduction). The percentage of oxygen is kept below the minimum levels necessary for combustion, thus making it impossible for any type of flame to develop.
- The Massarosa and Turin Data Centres are equipped with a nitrogen fire-fighting system in high-pressure cylinders.
- The Data Centre area is compartmentalised by RE1120 fireproof walls and doors.
- A special detection system monitors the hydrogen levels in the UPS and battery rooms and, if necessary, automatically activates the air exchange systems.
Power supply
- The electrical systems are based on multiple and independent power supply lines with separate and diversified routing.
- In the event of an emergency, power continuity is ensured by a UPS with redundant static switches, 48V power stations and diesel generators.
- Each individual rack is powered in redundant dual line mode.
- The UPSs in Pisa and Massarosa are located in separate rooms with independent cooling units.
Air conditioning
- The arrangement in separate hot and cold aisles allows for the reduction of consumption and greater efficiency of the equipment housed.
- The air conditioning system with a double power supply circuit guarantees the maintenance of temperature and humidity in a range of pre-established values.
- The air conditioners are powered without interruption (continuous cooling) even in the event of generator activation.
Redundancy
- Connection between the Pisa and Massarosa Data Centres via Fibre optic rings with DWDM technology at multiples of 100 Gbps.
- 30 Gbps of capacity for the connection of the Fibre Optic ring between the Data
- Local and geographical redundancy of all core devices with synchronous replication of storage data.
- Connection circuit redundancy for all the collection PoPs serving the Pisa and Massarosa Data Centers.
- Redundancy of all connection circuits linking the internet exchange points and the national telephone network to the Pisa and Massarosa Data Centres.
