Network infrastructure
High performance for professional quality Voice, Data and Cloud services
Based on a state-of-the-art infrastructure (NGN), the Vianova network is the backbone of all the company’s transmission services and allows the provision of telecommunications and IT services with the highest levels of reliability, security, and low latency.
The network interconnects all the PoPs and collection areas of the national territory to the Pisa and Massarosa Data Centres with high-capacity optical fibre and diversified geographical routing.
The Data Centres in Pisa, Massarosa (Lucca), and Turin are connected by multiple fibre rings and host the technological platforms for delivering all Vianova services, in a protected, 24/7 monitored, permanently connected environment.
Access network
Vianova uses the best access technologies (FTTH, FTTC, xDSL, Wireless, etc.) available in the areas where customers’ offices are located and installs lines dedicated exclusively to Vianova services, which are activated only after a successful technical check.
An advanced monitoring, design, and implementation system, developed in-house by our developers, continuously supervises traffic and the status of individual customer lines to avoid slowdowns and intercept any anomalies.
Point of Presence
The PoPs (Points of Presence) located throughout the region allow the collection of traffic from all transport technologies and protocols (Dark Fibre, DWDM, Ethernet, FTTx, Wireless, etc.). Voice and Data traffic is routed on separate dedicated circuits, configured with guaranteed and controlled minimum bandwidth to ensure quality of service (QoS).
Disaster Recovery
The geographical redundancy of the Pisa and Massarosa Data Centres ensures the continuity of services even in the event of major critical issues (disaster recovery). The two facilities are, in fact, connected through multiple fibre optic rings, with diversified access and routes, and expandable capacity to multiples of 100 Gbps (DWDM technology), on which an IP/MPLS network is built, boasting switching times of less than 150 ms.
Internet
An 80 Gbps transport network links the MIX exchange node in Milan and the NaMeX node in Rome to Vianova Group’s Data Centres via diversified routes, ensuring high-speed Internet connectivity.
Direct peering with the main Italian and foreign TLC Operators (including CDNs), at the main Italian and European interconnection points, make it possible to reduce the number of hops and latency times, facilitating the exchange of internet traffic.
Vianova is a Mobile operator that uses, thanks to a roaming agreement, the wireless access network of Fastweb (formerly Vodafone).
To ensure business continuity, the proprietary Mobile network infrastructures (GGSN, SBC, HLR, etc.) are co-located and redundant locally and geographically in the Massarosa and Pisa Data Centres, which in turn are interconnected to the geographical PoPs of Milan and Rome.
Control makes the difference
We work every day to guarantee the highest standards of service
Transport network
A high-capacity, redundant transport network dedicated to our Customers, to enable secure connections to our Data Centres.
Control system
A sophisticated measurement and control system that allows real-time monitoring of Voice and Data traffic divided by each individual area, in order to size the transport network with transmission capacities that are always higher than the maximum usage peaks of our Customers.
Customer area
An area of our website reserved for Customers where, with a view to a relationship of maximum transparency, we report a graph of actual bandwidth consumption, selectable for each individual location, which is automatically updated every minute.
